Yet another downtown Memphis must-see. Dedicated to the art and craft of metalworking, this museum offers both permanent and changing exhibitions. You can watch craftsmen actually working. Several classes are offered including sand casting, iron casting, jewelry casting and blacksmithing. You can even take your own lunch and eat at their picnic tables on the bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. There is a gift shop that sells handcrafted items. Many Memphis residents are still unaware of this charming place.
Quiet place with gorgeous and functional works displayed Reviewed by HelloMetro User on

It's hidden away surrounded by interstate, a park and the river. The museum sits on the bluff overlooking the Mississippi river giving you a prime view of the sunset. The grounds were once part of an old navy hospital. Several buildings have been restored and turned into a blacksmith's shop and museum. The gift store carries items that local and national artisans have hand made. It's truly a place to experience especially during the repair days in October. Take the time to find it. You won't be disappointed.
