Ridgeway High School Reviews

rood kids, and behavior. when I went there I was tormented. I had to go there i was educationally put in the wrong class, and student were untamable. also disruptive.

Ridgeway High School is a great school, academically speaking, and has great teachers. However, they have apartment complexes right outside of the school so there are some overcrowding problems. Also, there are few 'misguided' individuals at this school (i.e: gangs, drugs, pranksters... etc.) but overall the people there are cool. The teachers here are very well qualified for the job and we have an outstanding band director (Mr. Chris Piecuch), choir director (Dr. Jeff Brewer), orchestra conductor (Ms. Karla Phillips), drama/creative writing teacher (Ms. Julie Watson) and art teacher. If your child is very active in sports (especially lacrosse or basketball) or the fine arts, or is an overall great student, Ridgeway is the school to look at. I hope that the media does not curve your view of our school, because it is indeed one of the finest Memphis City Schools.

RHS is a great school academics wise.In other prospect the school is get worst. Sports u can get recognized if u are a favor. Play the player because of thier skills. Not because of your grade level. I wish yall the best this year.

This was an excellent school, but there have been recent changes in the faculty, staff, and students. RHS was once the best schools in the city, period. Although it's declining slowly, it's still the best public school in the city with the highest graduation and attendance rates. This school also has the best choirs in West Tennessee. If you really want to hear a choir, stop by Ridgeway and see Dr. Brewer and the Choirs.

I love tihs school. My child learns so much there. And the staff are great

Well i have gone to Ridgeway for 3 years now and each year it is getting worse. Mr Long has messed up alot of the traditions that the students have and the teachers have. It is a great school for acadamics. The teachers are all involved in helping if you ask for help.

I am currently alumni of ridgeway highschool. I was displaced by hurricane Katrina and came from a private school in new orleans. new orleans private schools are equivilant to a ridgeway education. There are honors courses and AP courses.rigdeway has had several national merit finalists and the seniors have had over 100,000 in scholarships. Ridgeway is an excellent school, to prepare for college. I would rate it one of the best memphis city schools.

As a parent of a RHS graduate, I feel that RHS is a good school provided the parents send the school a child 'ready' to work, prepared to learn and willing to participate and act with behavior consistent with high school. The administrative staff and teachers can only do so with high school students. Students in high school do not communicate enough with their parents and therefore the parents must be pro-active with their 'drop-ins' on the students and follow up with assignments, ect. Our daughter gradtuated in 2005 and she gained a lot of knowledge and her instuctors - especially Tony Frigo, Band Director, was very interested in the students performance. The principal could have perhaps shown more support for the students; but he has since retire.

I beg to differ about this shcool. If your child is serious on athletics this is school for him/her to be reconginzed. But when it comes down to academics I find that this school lacks discipline. Taking certain classes at this school is very hard because the adminstration feels they need to hold your child back from certain classes. Such as, they will try to put your child in courses they may not want to be in: Chemistry for Geology; Precal for Algebra-Trig. This school in my opinion, doesn't have enough confidence in its students when it comes to acdaemics. But you can bet your bottom dollar, if you can kick a soccer ball, dunk a ball, or throw a football your child will be the perfect catch for this school.

I think that Ridgeway High School is one of the best schools in Memphis ,they have a lot od great teachers such as Mrs.Lovelace,Mrs.Horton,and the one and only Dr.Jeff Brewer and Mrs. Wright. They also have the best coaches there such as Ronnie Bray , A.C.Williams,and Wes Henning they also have some of the best group of students keep up the great work R.H.S Wes Henning They also have great Choir from the womens choir up to the upcomming gospel choir

I love Ridgeway. I think Ridgeway is an excellent school if you are interested in going to college. The teachers are always willing to assist you if you are having a problem. It is a very clean school and a good environment to learn in. It has a very good fine arts program especially the choir. The choir directoris very dedicated and very serious about his students. He is my favorite teacher in the school. The pep rallies, field trips, talent shows and sport activities are a lot of fun. Ridgeway won the state championship for football in 2002-2003 school year.
