Wooddale High School Reviews

My daughter always complains to me about this new principal, he just came and changed everything that makes the students don't feel comfortable. High school should be more free, but now it looks like a middle school. I prefer the old principal more, she was a great principal.

Being a student of Wooddale, graduating class of '08, I have found some things that I dislike about Wooddale. Overall, Wooddale is a decent school though I know it can be better. I really dislike that lack of diversity. If you are a parent and want to send your kid to WHS, please make sure you are doing it for the Honors/AP. The principal is also very strict, we rarely have any fun day but that is majorly due to the student body's overall behavior.

Wooddale High Is a great school. I attended it for 3 years and i might go back for my senior year.

I have two girls attending Wooddale High. One is in the twelth grade, and one is in the ninth. I have not had a lot of bad experiences, but, there have been some times when I wanted to ask the teachers, 'what is your problem?' The principal is trying to make the school one of, if not the best school in Memphis. I think she needs a staff to support her.

The students of Wooddale High try their best. The administration encourages the students to do their very best. However, parents can help by being more involved in their children's school, because children with parentts involved in their school are successful students.

The children of Wooddale High School are by far exceptional; however within the same walls of Wooddale High School, these same bright energetic children are treated with disrespect and as mediocre by the Principal and others of her administrative staff. According to some of the schools mission statement - All students have the right to a safe and secure learning environment. All students have a right to a fair, equitable, and consistent discipline. The school must provide a nurturing environment that promotes self-esteem. The school must provide a variety of opportunities to support and create awareness of student diversity. The school must provide mutual trust and shared educational responsibility with the stakeholders in the school and community. This is not being adhered to at Wooddale High School by the Principal and her APs. It is just the opposite.

The community is very proud of the curriculum at Wooddale High School and the efforts of its students and faculty. It does need a makeover on the behalf of the relationship of the administrative staff with respect to the treatment and respect of the students and parent community. The halls that once resounded the spirit of happiness, which is key to education, has been changed to one of submission from the hand of oppression. The spark that once existed is now a dim speck in the tomb of gloom. The school run with an iron fist, by the principal with no regard for involved parents. The 'Cardinals' song of spirit has been silenced. Help Please!

I am a senior at wooddale high. and i love my school. i admit it could ve better but we are working on it.the teachers are strict but that only makes the students better.if your child is doing poor in school wooddale will straighten them out. i love it and i wouldnt leave it for the world.

I'm currently a student at wooddale high, and i think it's terrible. It's totally boring. I hate it. I can't wait to leave. We don't have much activities. Bathrooms are gross. Cafeterias are not clean, our principal blames it on us, but i don't eat there cause it's gross. Lockers are jammed, very cheap. People broke into my locker and stole personal belongings. You get in trouble for anything in this school. I hate it. Do not, i repeat, do not make your child go to this school.

I think that the grades could be better. I also think the teachers could do I better job in teaching. The football team as well as any other sport is in terrible shape. I couldn't see less parents involved at the school. I was once a student there and believe me I couldn't wait to leave because I wanted to learn more in school and the teachers wasn't giving me that advantage.

Wooddale High School is an excellent learning enviornment and bad critisicms of the school does not help the situation. During the summer storm, summer school, it would be foolish to have kids who are by the way, mostly from other schools sit in a stairway. Mr. McCullough and the other administrative staff truly believe in the ethics and morals that our children need today. They are tough because they have to be and cell phones are a board policy, not Wooddale High. If Mr. McCullough allowed students to break just a few rules, there would mass confusion. I agree with how he is leading the school and support him 100% He is showing our children what hard work really is and how to be productive citizens. Wooddale is not perfect, but what school is? Parents should be more encouraging of this type of discipline. Be more involved instead of complaining!

I think the administration should be more focused on the students and not on writing suspensions for the color of a student's underware and for cellphones some students need their cellphones in case of an emergency but the assistant principals run the school and not the principal they tell him what to do. We send our children to school to learn not to be suspended or to be treated like prisoners

Woooddale High school is a great school for students who desire to be in the aviation field. However, it lacks a strong drama department, and a broad range of extracurricular activities. The activities they have are excellent, I just wish they had more. The teachers are great, and I think that overall (despite the lack of parental involvement) Wooddale High is a great School.

This school could be an awesome school. The administration is not student driven. The day of the storm and power was out. The students were assembled in the dark auditorium. This made me very angry because the students should have been in a very well lite place, ex. the open hallways. The administration seems very combative and I have yet to understand why. Combativness begats combativness. I wish the school would rally to make the PTA stronger and more of a tool for embracing the parents. The goal should be the students. I don't feel that at Wooddale High. I would love to participate in the PTA but they meet on a day that is of conflict for me.
