Ridgeway Middle School Reviews

This school is the best ever, I've been going to it for a whole year and it been awesome!

I absolutely love this school! It reminds me of the time when teachers cared about the students back in the day. I attended the Parent Meeting tonight and could not believe the parent involvement and the enthusiasm of the entire faculty. My son went to Kirby Middle for one semester, and Ridgeway Middle is so different. At Kirby, when my husband and I went to the PTA meeting, there was a handful of parents and only the principal. That is so sad! Tonight at Ridgeway, there was so many parents, teachers, and students there. Amazing!! This is the way a school should be.

Great school!!! My son loves it!! My husband and I love it too. It reminds me of when we were in junior high. Good quality leadership and teachers. Ridgeway, keep it up!!!

its just a great school for students to go it has lots of activities and more!

Ridgewayis okay i guess. Some teachers can be really annoying sometimes.Thay don't have sanitary bathrooms either. But the best thing there is band.I really enjoy it.Mr.Kennedy is the best.

Ridgeway is not the best school because the teacher do not care about the students they jest want their money. The parents are not involved. I do not think you should let child or children should go here.

I am highly disappointed in this school. many of them do not want to teach and are just there to collect a paycheck. The homework assignments that are supposed to be posted on the school website are rarely up to date. The children are kept busy with take home projects instead of quality homework assignments. School of the year? That's a joke.

Ridgeway is an excellent schoool! I believe it is one of the top schools in the state! Dr. Richmond is a wonderful leader an role model, and keeps the school safe, organized, and focused on the goal of teaching and learning. I beleive he DOES want the kids there to succeed and cares about them. Most of the teachers are friendly and enthusiastic about learning. The school is beautiful on the inside, out! Students are given many optional programs and extra-curricular activities in order to expand on their knowledge on various subjects and studies. RIDGEWAY---A++++!!!

I attend Ridgeway Middle School and I am not too fond of it. Most of the teachers are careless. The restrooms are horrible, the administration and falcuty is horrible. I would advise you to choose another school for your child.

I am very happy with Ridgeway Middle School. Dr. Richmond leadership skills are to be commended. His concept of a fight free school is awesome. It is because of this concept and the structure of the fight free program, that I allow my child to attend this school. Ridgeway Middle also offers diverse extra cirricular activities. There is something for everyone to be apart of regardless of skill, gifts, ethnic background, or talent. Ridgeway Middle School students exempliy confidence, pride, and respect of authority and others. Ridgeway Middle is 'The very, very, very best school'.

I think Dr. Richmond is a great principal.I'm not satisfied with the communication with parent/teacher.The teachers my son had last year where not reponsive to my calls or notes sent to them concerning my son.It took one teacher 6 days to call me back after several atempts to contact. The school has great activites to keep the students active.I like that Dr. Richmond make the boys put their short tails in.That makes them look presentable.

My grandchild attends Ridgeway Middle School after moving to Memphis from another northeastern state. He has progressed beyond the norm per standardized tests results.Discussions with others about our 'wonderful grandchildren'at Ridgeway has not warranted much fault, substantive fault anyway. Ridgeway Middle School concert band wentin Atlanta this month and in a National Concert Band competition that included middle school bands AND high school bands...Ridgeway Middle School Concert Band was 1st in the nation against 33 of the top bands. The discipline and academic level required to participate in extracurricular activities including more than 50+ students is commendable... and it is expensive HOWEVER...the parents came up with the resources. The principal IS NOT the band director yet it is apparent he is director of the staff to warrant such accomplishments.

I had a child who attended Ridgeway Middle School and I have been nothing but disappointed and disillusioned. The outside of Ridgeway is beautiful and sleek The students are dressed well and move about orderly. But beneath the gleaming facade lies a multitude of problems. Teachers seem more worried about security than teaching. The school is more like a prison than an instition of higher learning. Standards are so low only the most uneducated fail.I dont know how they are able to juggle and hide the fact that so many students are little more than functionally illiterate. My child made Honor Roll evey six weeks but when I compared his work to the work of a child from an out of state you would have thought he was at least 5 years younger. Shame on You Dr. Richmond. Shame on You Ridgeway. Your grade is F.

My kids are now attending Ridgeway Middle for their second year. I do not like the school. Some of the teachers are slackers, they don't correct the students when they speak, they are lazy and unconcerned about their students, not all of them, but some. The extracurricular activities are just about non-existent and they want to charge an arm and a leg and they only meet once a month. The only decent after school program they have is Lacrosse. Not much parent involvement at all. I have had a hard time interacting with some of the staff. It's like the staff all know each other and don't want anyone new to come in. This is just some of the things I have been through as a parent.

I think that Ridgeway Middle School is getting worse as the days progress. The amount of money that they require for the students to be involved in extra curicular activities is rediculous. There are plenty offered, but not all of the parents have money growing out of their ears. I am not happy with the principle at all. He seems to pay more attention to the childrens' uniforms, and the image that they create for the school, than their education. I also wish for the school to be more diverse. The parents involvment with the school has decreased since the school opened.

It is a very wonderful school and I love the qualities about RMS. For one it has good leadership, strongnest, and smartness.I am an 8 grader and I am in the best band.Mr.Cabel is the best band teacher a kid can have. Mr. Richmond is a great principal and he keeps us in check make sure that we are the best middel school in memphis city schools right along with Dr. Wallce and Mr.Ayers. My teachers are the best cause they make sure we get something in the right way.

I think that this is a great school because Mr.Richmond cares so much about the students that go to Ridgeway.I go to Ridgeway and my teachers are Ms.Brown,Ms.Nevels,Mr.Caswell,and Ms.Fryman. They are the best 8th grade teachers in the school. There very helpful and will do anything to make there team the best. The activites we have at Ridgeway are so fun.I'm in Men of Rigdeway Excelling and a member of the drumline. These activites help me when I'm feeling down especially Men of Ridgeway Excelling. The drumline is just a favorite. If you love drums, these is the place to be.Oh,these year we coming out #1,not Raliegh-Egypt.A special shotout to Mr.Richmond, Mr.Ayers, and Dr.Wallence.Thanks for caring about us!!!

Ridgeway Middle is a good school and I love Mr. Richmond but his 6th grade teachers Team A have been nothing but a disappointment to me, particullay the math and social studies teachers. The math teacher is not what I would call a 'GOOD' teacher, she wants things to look good for her on paper, when in actually she needs to go back and be re-taught how 1. TO TEACH THE CHILDREN and 2. TO KNOW HOW TO INTER-ACT WITH THE PARENTS. Parents try and send their chilldren to a place where they can learn and not be talked down to by the teachers. This is no reflection on the principal (HE'S GREAT)but, I think he need to re-evaluate some of the so called TEACHERS at his school.

I think Ridgeway is a great school because it has good teachers, a wise principal, and a caring faculty. I go to Ridgeway. My teachers are Mrs,McGee,Mr.Terre,Mrs.Jackson,and Mrs.Gish. I also take band here. It shows you how to count scales, learn notes, etc. It has been so educative with Mr.Roderick Richmond because he is very wise to take good care of our school. The teachers are very kind to give time to us to let us learn new subjects for when we need them we'll say, 'Oh,my teacher taught me that',just to know that we have mastered everything our teachers teach us. The faculty is so friendly. When a pesron gets sick and throws up, they immediately go to spot and clean it up. Our nurse is also ok. She always tells you what you need when you are very sick and need help. That is why I think Ridgeway is the bset school in the entire history of Memphis,TN.

Mr.Richmond is the best principal. He's great.I'm a student at Ridgeway. We are working on being a fight free school.Today is our 15th fight free day. I'm a cheerleader too. The teachers are not just sitting at their computers all day either. They are actually teaching and helping out around the school. The learning is wonderful. No one is not concentrated on fighting, but on learning.

In the past Ridgeway Middle School has been somewhat of a disappointment, but under the new leadership of Principal Mr. Richmond I foresee new and wonderful changes coming that will benefit not only the teachers and students, but the parents as well. Mr. Richmond served as Principal at Ross Elementary for many years and provided a very successful learning as well as caring environment for students, teachers and parents. He is not one dimensional and he has the interests of everyone at heart. He is an honest and sincere principal who looks to serve the community and works diligently to provide the very best education possible to his students. He tolerates no nonsense from anyone! And he only wants teachers who is as sincere and caring as he is himself. Parents are also expected to serve as positive guides and role models. If you're interested in learning, RMS is the place.

The amount of money needed to participate in some of these class related activities are enormous. If you have more than one child, a part-time job should help. After relocating to Memphis I am sorry I have to subject my children to the insanity of this school. Money is important, uniforms are important and TCAPS are important, that's about the extent of it. You cant get tutored unless your failing, you dont get conferences unless you ask. This is idiotic! There should be a financial breakdown given at the beginning of the year to ensure you are saving enough money for your child to be included.

I moved into this district for my son to attend Ridgeway and was very disappointed. The administration seems more interested in uniforms and collection of monies rather than giving the children a good, quality education. In an effort to 'keep the school safe' they have instituted some very inane rules. The teachers seem distant and seem to somewhat encourage students to break school rules by enforcing separate classroom rules. Bring the focus back to the children!
